My Project

Comprehension strategies are some of the most important topics that fourth graders can learn. However, the lecture method does not hold their attention because the concepts are not connected to anything, and students see lectures as boring.

Reading novels together will not only introduce students to new literature - it will also provide the connections needed to make comprehension instruction meaningful and enjoyable.

The students will then be able to take these connections and expand them to other texts and their own lives.

Novel studies provide students with a space in which it is safe for them to learn, grow, and relate.
