Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We all want to change the world and now is the time to make changes that will affect how we live in the future. Our students have implemented a recycling program to reduce paper waste. We also recycle bottles and cans. We want to go a step further and recycle food waste to be used in our garden.

Our students are eager and capable of great things.

Our student population is also huge; more than 1,000. They have been learning about ways to help the Earth and are doing things about it. When lunch time comes it is difficult to see so much food go into trash bins that will eventually go to landfills. These students need guidance and a working model to see how waste can be reduced. Students have worked hard to beautify the school but we would like to go further and implement composting to serve as an inspiration to students, parents, staff, and the community.

My Project

A few composting bins will go a long way. We would like to start small to show everyone what can be done. We have set goals before and have accomplished them. Sometimes it just takes a little push. We hope we can count on you to help support our goal.

Our project is very important because we are teaching students to care for their planet.

They need to understand that they can help in any way possible, even if it's a small step. The younger generation will have to live on an Earth that past generations have neglected. Time for change is now and for many students their only hope comes from what is taught at school. Help us teach this very important lesson on conservation.
