Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our class has a vision: educating other students (and teachers) about recycling, composting, and other sustainable environmental habits. Students are the ones who are going to take these lessons home to their families, showing them the way. By providing sorting bins and actual composting options, our Composting Awareness Campaign will become a reality. Students will be able to model and teach the habits of intentional recycling at school in the cafeteria, and other community areas of the school. The school's Gardening Club will teach mini-lessons, check people out on using the bins, and provide valuable information on how to do these things at home. The Indoor Composting Bin will be used as a model. It will be a launching point for discussing all the different types of composting available for apartments/trailers/homes. Being a steward of the environment promotes social-emotional growth by offering a therapeutic outlet, fostering teamwork, and instilling a sense of responsibility. By expanding our vibrant community garden club with the Composting Awareness Program, we enhance the holistic development of students involved in the program and create a positive and engaging learning environment.
