Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a Title I Urban school setting. I began a fully funded "Fish to Food" project with the objective of water use & conservation in 2019. The kids were beyond enthralled! Then, Covid.... The fish were taken home, plants were planted & so-called online learning began. Now we are ready to step it up! In addition to the fish tanks I already have, I want to teach kids how to compost, garden, cook, market, document, and sell their hard work and creativity. The project is inclusive of 700+ students from pre-school to 5th grade. Every student will have their own choice and voice in how they want to participate, from Composting to Cuisine! I see this project as the beginning of love for lifelong learning (or dislikes). As an elementary school teacher of 9 wonderful years, I know the kids will create the most unbelievable Community Gardens & Market. Every day I learn something I never would have considered before! Please help us achieve our goal.
