My Project

The book "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio has the potential to make a profound impact on students if they read it.

Through its powerful storytelling and relatable characters, "Wonder" addresses important themes such as kindness, empathy, bullying, acceptance, personal growth, reflection, and hope.

First, "Wonder" promotes kindness as a central theme. It emphasizes the transformative power of small acts of kindness and encourages students to consider the impact their words and actions can have on others. By reading this book, students can learn valuable lessons about empathy and compassion, fostering a more caring and inclusive school environment. Moreover, "Wonder" builds empathy by telling the story of August Pullman, a boy with a facial anomaly. Through Auggie's experiences and challenges, students can develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for those who are different from them. This can help break down barriers and promote a culture of acceptance and understanding.The book also addresses the issue of bullying, highlighting the consequences of exclusion and the importance of standing up against it. By engaging with these themes, students can reflect on their own behaviors and attitudes towards others, leading to a more positive and respectful school culture. Through the eyes of different characters, students are prompted to consider their own perspectives and behaviors.
