My Project

In our interconnected world, fostering empathy and compassion is essential. By reading these books together, my students will embark on a journey to see the world through the eyes of another person, cultivating kindness and understanding.

These picture books will serve as powerful tools to ignite conversations and inspire empathy among our students- one story at a time!

My high school students will read these picture books aloud to 1st graders during shared reading sessions. We will discuss how compassion can alleviate suffering, whether it’s a fictional character or a real person.

I will seek feedback from both high school and 1st-grade students. Did they feel understood? Did they learn something new?

Through “Compassion Through Picture Books,” we will nurture empathy and by sharing stories, our students will not only improve their reading skills but also develop lifelong values that extend beyond the classroom.
