My Project

In our language arts class, we aim to enhance our students' empathy, understanding, and compassion towards others through diverse literature. By providing books that showcase characters from various backgrounds and experiences, our students will learn to see the world through the eyes of others. Through guided discussions and reflective activities, they will work towards alleviating suffering in others by connecting with the characters' struggles and triumphs. To measure success, we will use pre and post-surveys to assess students' understanding, reflective journals to track their insights, and class discussions to evaluate their engagement and understanding of compassion. This project seeks to foster a culture of empathy and understanding through literature, promoting a more compassionate and inclusive learning environment for all students. Not only do we want students to have more empathy and understanding for one another, but we also hope to give students a chance to see themselves reflected in the work they read.
