This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are passionate about learning and part of the reason why I love my job. I teach in a Title 1 school where a majority of my students face poverty, foster care, and unstable home environments. Despite these daily challenges, my students come to school ready to take on the day and learn.
If you were to walk into my classroom at any time, you would see diverse learners striving for a better future by collaborating with their peers.
My students frequently work in groups to further clarify their understanding for our mentor texts. My classes are made up of students who are bright, funny, driven and determined. My students consistently show me that regardless of what is going on in their home life, they come to class ready to learn.
My Project
An easel would allow me to model in a full class or small group instruction. In addition to teaching literacy, I also teach my students about financial literacy. My goal is to have my students create a resume that they can use when they are old enough to work. I also teach my students how to write a scholarship letter so they are both high school and college and career ready. The ink and copy paper would be used to print my students’ work.
There is no greater feeling than seeing a child smile when they see their work displayed around the classroom.
The post it’s will be used daily when we practice independent reading. This will allow all of my students to annotate and display their thinking.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
