Community Building with a Rug

Help me give my students a classroom rug! The rug will provide my students with a place to sit during math and science lessons. The rug doubles as a flexible seating choice for students.

My Project

The rug will be used at the start of my students day during morning meeting, and during their math and science lessons. In math, students often need to explain their thinking, compare strategies, and work together to solve math problems. In science, they benefit from opportunities to discuss observations, ask questions, and share ideas with their classmates. A rug would create a flexible learning space where students can gather, collaborate, and participate.

My students are beginning their last year of elementary school, and having a rug in the classroom will allow them to continue to build community with their classmates before they’re off to middle school.
