Communication Tools!

Help me give my students access to communication tools! The Enoin acrylic sheets will be used to make tactile symbols for a deaf-blind student. I am working with a local organization to laser cut the sheets. Thank you!

My Project

I am working with a local maker-space organization to help me create tactile symbols for a deaf-blind high school student. The artist will laser cut small boards of various shapes from the acrylic sheets. I will then attach small items of various textures and shapes (pipe cleaners, sand paper, sponges, string, etc.) to the boards to represent core words, which are the most commonly used words in English. Through target speech/language therapy and the support of his special day classroom team, the goal is for my student to learn to communicate by touching the tactile items on his communication board.

Aside from the items needed to support the special project described above, I am also requesting toys and books that I can use with many of my speech/language therapy student to encourage communication development!
