Common Core Math & My Students-They Will Be Ready!
Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend this workshop because our school does not provide any details or support on Common Core. I need the materials for my students to learn. <profdevpilot>
Common Core needs to be implemented, but I lack the training and technology to implement it. My students deserve a teacher who can learn all I can learn to better teach them and prepared them for life. My students are eager 2nd graders who love a challenge and work hard to show what they know.
I have been teaching for 14 years.
I have a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, I am a National Board Certified teacher, and I am currently completing courses for an ESL/ELL Endorsement. I stay up-to-date with all the teaching requirements and implementation of new methods. My school doesn't provide training on how to meet the Common Core standards in my teaching. I want my students to have a teacher with up-to-date effective strategies teaching them so they can meet their learning goals. My students deserve an education that will push them to be ready for their future.
I have always been a primary grade teacher. I was a 1st grade teacher for 8 years, I taught a split Kindergarten & 1st grade class, and I have been teaching 2nd grade for 5 years. I have been a member of our school Professional Personnel Leadership Committee (PPLC) for the past 7 years. I am the Primary Team Math Lead teacher providing teachers in the primary team with updated math methods to teach.
My Project
I am requesting to attend a professional development workshop on best practices of Common Core Mathematics. I feel that I need extra training to better understand the standards and gain valuable strategies to bring back into my classroom.
One of the Common Core standards is to connect technology with student learning. I'm requesting for an iPad Mini because the training involves participants to have an iPad to engage in instructional activities. I can't be an effective participant unless I have the proper technology to follow along with the strategies I will be taught. My school doesn't provide me with technology.
I am also requesting for additional math materials to use as classroom teaching aids. These materials are highlighted as materials used in the lessons presented at the PD workshop. They can be used in a variety of ways providing my students with a differentiated level of learning. They are all hands-on materials allowing all my students access to the materials equally.
Donations to this project will help me effectively teach my students the strategies to meet Common Core standards.
I will have access to an iPad and materials to use as valuable tools during this workshop on meeting the Common Core standards. This project is a project that will benefit many of my students from this current class to future classes I teach.
I can better prepare my students for the next grade and they will be armed with strategies and knowledge on how to use technology.
