Coming Together Around the Table

Help me give my students in grades K-5 comfortable streamline seating for around their science lab tables. Right now they have large bulky seats making it difficult to utilize all of the available space.

My Project

Hi, I teach science to all classes, grades Kindergarten through fifth grade in a title 1 school in South Ozone Park, NY. I have managed to get tables for my room so that it is easier to set up experiments with the students however; we currently have the bulky chairs around these tables at varying heights. My classes would benefit from having a standard sized stool throughout the class for a number of reasons. Students can move freely around the tables or to a new table without worrying if their will be an appropriate sized seat for them. Stools would also allow for closer partner work as well as the option to push it under the table completely when additional room is needed. The younger students wouldn't have such a difficult time moving their seats in and out since the stools would be much lighter than the chairs we have now. Students would also be able to work in larger collaborative groups since more stools can fit around the tables. I have also asked for a special floor chair to help out my student with CP that enjoys the occasional break from his wheelchair.
