My students are absolutely wonderful! I work in a small town in Massachusetts about 20 minutes north of Boston. Each year I work with around 100 8th graders helping them learn about the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. We complete our work through many hands-on projects to keep them engaged.
I love working with middle schoolers since they have such a unique way of learning and looking at the world.
Middle schoolers are dedicated to finding themselves and determining the kind of person they are going to be.
As a middle school teacher it is important for me to not only teach them Social Studies content, but how to be successful independent learners. They need to develop their own learning style and figure out what works best for them. I try to empower my students self advocate so they can be successful with the transition to high school.
I am so lucky to have left over funds from my last Donors Choose project. I'm excited to be able to provide a few needed updates to my classroom to help students succeed!
Updating my world map is essential to students understanding the world around them.
My current map does not even have all of the modern day countries on it! I'm also looking forward to expanding my classroom library. The presenting tool will not only assist me when I am giving notes, but the students will be able to use it when they are presenting to the class.
These new tools will help my students become more connected to the curriculum and will aid in their success in the classroom.
