My Students

My creative, open-minded students are the reason I love my job. Their willingness to learn and be engaged in solving large and small problems is so motivational. I am consistently astounded by the generosity and inner consciences of all 17 of them. I teach in a high poverty school where many consistently face trauma and the challenges of that. Yet, the caring they show towards others shows the resiliency they have. We have been able to build that resiliency on a daily basis by building our classroom community.

I consider my students my own kids and we all look forward to coming to school to see each other; their unique selves make our school and community a better place to be!

We love to do exciting class projects and try out their ideas of topics to learn about, then they share their research with the class. It is the most gratifying feeling to see their perseverance and their abilities to learn about something new with a positive outlook.

My Project

My students are being required to keep social distancing throughout the day in class, which includes staying at their desks for most of the day. They eat lunch in our classroom and they generally stay in our room for any other classes the teachers come to them. This means they are sitting in their hard chairs now more than ever. We would also love to go outside to sit and learn more often and these waterproof cushions provide that for them! Help them have a portable seat anywhere we go to learn at school.
