Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is a learning paradise for my students. It is a place for them to feel safe, ask questions, and focus on their education. They do not always feel these comforts once they leave my classroom door.
Many of our students have experienced hardship in their home lives and seek comfort!
We have a high population of EL learners, special education students, and foster kids. Our entire school district receives 100% free breakfast and lunch. I am here to make a positive change in their lives and give them a safe haven to call their own!
My Project
Our school has cement floors in all of the classrooms. While it is nice for cleanup you can imagine it is not so cozy to sit on a cold floor. The rugs will be used to make a separate working area on the floor along with pillows to ensure our kiddos are very comfy. The rug will ensure the students are able to freely move on the floor instead of being stuck in a stationary chair.
All students learn differently, so why not give them flexible seating choices to match those learning styles.
Bedrest pillows, saucer chairs, and lap desks will replace stationary chairs and desks to allow more comfortability while learning. Making sure students are in a classroom that feels like home will increase their focus and willingness to learn. Also, giving my students more choices will give them more ownership over their own learning!
