My students are so excited to learn this year. They are part of a Title I school, and come from very interesting and diverse backgrounds. They enjoy every part of our day and make me proud to be their teacher this year.
Kindergarten is such an exciting year for students, and I'd like to help make it the best possible with this exciting project.
I would like to add flexible seating to our classroom so students may choose seating other than the traditional desk and chair. During small group lessons, the independent workers can choose beanbag chairs for reading, tablet activities, etc. This is how I’d like to BEGIN my flexible seating options. I’d like to add more options later.
Each student is unique in so many different ways. One way for them to be more engaged is to have comfortable seating options that allow them to get cozy while reading or listening to books. Some may also choose these chairs when creating with blocks or even writing in their journals. Providing options to students helps them to have more ownership of their work, as well as help them feel like their classroom really is a home away from home. We become a family throughout the year, and I want them to FEEL like they are “home” with their classroom family.
