The majority of our learning takes place on our carpet in kindergarten. Our current carpet is quite old, with deeply set in stains, and frayed edges that can, at times, be hazardous. In order to have enjoyable carpet time, we desperately need a new carpet!! My adorable kindergarteners are full of life and curiosity. Nothing excites them more than an engaging story, science experiment, or interactive math and phonics activities. All of these events happen on the carpet. Close up and personal learning time. A new carpet would ensure that each student has his/her own personal, and clean, "thinking spot." Our school receives Title I funding, which means that most of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Their own personal spot on the carpet for learning is important to them. They really do have so much pride in everything they do. With many efforts to make this carpet last, it really is time for these students to have a bright, clean personal spot for learning.
