Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students spend approximately 7 hours a day in school each day for 180 days - that's 1,260 hours each school year!! The majority of that time is spent in our classrooms. Our classrooms become an extension of our students' homes and communities and are the places where learning occurs and lifetime memories are made.
Creating a beautiful, comfortable learning environment is a great way to set students up for success.
The items selected for this project are designed to soothe students' senses and create an place that is optimized for learning.
Items requested include a classroom sweatshirt for each student to use whenever he/she needs, and a diffuser to gently stimulate students' senses of smell with natural and ivigorating essential oils. We included light covers, curtains and ambient light to soften the harsh flouresent lighting, and two cozy rugs to read on in our classroom library. Finally, we also requested live plants for students to help care for and to improve our classroom air quality.
The best part is that these items will last several years, impacting hundreds of students!
