Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Oh Middle School .. oh middle school, I wouldn't have it any other way! My students are energetic, funny, and explorative 6th and 7th graders! My school is a well diverse community but in the present economic climate, funds are not readily available to purchase the resources needed to challenge our students and prepare them for their future.

One of the best parts about teaching middle school is the students have a great sense of humor and the relationships that you build with them are very unique and impactful.

They are the perfect blend of independent and dependent! My middle school kiddos are truly one of a kind!

They take risks, are curious, and love danger and adventure, yet their feelings can be hurt easily. This is the time when they feel immortal, but they worry a lot about what their friends think about them. They want to be independent of their families, and at the same time, they need to be pampered and protected.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. During these times of COVID19, many students have been very anxious about returning to the classroom, my goal is to have them be as comfortable as possible!

Middle school students are constantly looking to move around, students need to be able to move around during the school day.

When using flexible seating, the students are allowed to rock, lean, stand, etc. which in turn keeps them more alert because it increases oxygen to the brain.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
