My Students

I LOVE teaching third graders! They are so excited to move up to our 3-5 intermediate school which has about 400 students. Our small rural community is growing in numbers and diversity. The third graders start each day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn. I full heartedly believe in teaching kids about how they learn, understanding what it means to have a growth mindset and realizing that it's necessary to struggle through new material before you can retain that knowledge.

It's priceless to watch the kids when they're learning something new or have just solved a challenging problem.

In our classroom, the kids are welcome to spread out around the room when it's work time. They like having their own special place where they focus on their lesson.

My Project

Help me give my students some comfy cushion chairs to use in our classroom. These chairs are light and easy to move around. They sit right on the floor and I love that they have a backrest to lean against.

Comfortable furniture goes hand in hand with the concept of active learning.

Research shows that kids do better work when they are comfortable. As adults, we can agree that we do our best work when we're comfortable and relaxed. This idea is 100% what I want to bring to our classroom.
