My Students

A handful of 9th grade students are selected for our SUCCEED program based on their overall engagement during the first quarter of the school year. Teachers recommend students for the program out of a deep concern that their needs are not being met in the mainstream class. SUCCEED involves a separate classroom space that prioritizes comfort, safety, and social-emotional supports. With the myriad challenges of the pandemic, in addition to the school being relocated to a vacant Macy's in the 2020-2021 school year, the district is short on funds to support these adolescents in truly meaningful ways.

We know our students can thrive with a warm, supportive environment, and we need your help to create the space for them!

My Project

These chairs are going to contribute to a learning vibe that is non-traditional. We know that traditional school structures are not equitable and have not supported these students' academic development. Therefore, instead of sitting in a classroom of 20+ students in rows of desks, these chosen students will form a tight-knit community in a space that, at a glance, you might not guess is a classroom! It will look and feel different.

SUCCEED is designed to alleviate the stresses of our tumultuous world and enable students to get comfortable so they can learn.

Every student deserves the opportunity to enjoy school and grow in meaningful ways. These chairs will have a positive impact on 9th graders who need an alternative option. We are creating the space for them!
