My Students

One of the many joys of first grade is the enthusiasm that students bring to the classroom each and every day. They are eager to learn and the academic growth that occurs at this age is amazing to watch.

This project will not only reach my homeroom, but all three of the first grade classes at my school.

We are departmentalized and I will teach math to all three classes. I am excited I get the opportunity to work with all 60 children throughout the day on their math skills

My Project

Our classroom project will help provide flexible seating during our math block and encourage more effective learning choices. It will benefit 60 first grade students that are eager to learn more about math. It is crucial that in each class meetings that skills are reviewed, prior knowledge is activated, and new concepts introduced. A rug would be utilized in the math classroom to do just that. Some students need to spread out and have their own personal space.

Various activities including partner work and meeting with individual students will all be done at our new rug, which would provide a sense of security for each child.
