This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a high-needs, STEAM, middle school in southeast Charlotte. My students grapple with economic, academic, and cultural access. These students deserve more, and it is my obligation to provide equal access for high quality education for all the students I serve. My students make my heart swell with so much pride to see them overcome challenges each and every day. I want to make sure that they can have the resources to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our school has built strong community partnerships that have helped my students and their families navigate the school year.
These relationships have been amazingly helpful, but we need more especially at this time as we return back to in person learning.
My Project
School can be stressful at times. I would like a classroom that invites calmness and positive learning experiences. By providing easily accessible materials, observation of living organisms, adjustable lighting in the form of lamps and simple luxuries such as tissues students can feel are ease in the classroom.
Peaceful minds learn better.
Not only do students need peaceful learning environments, they need resources that make learning fun and interactive. Watching ants build and live in a stimulated ecosystem or specialty learning activities provided by teacher pay teachers will allow students to engage in high quality interactive assignments that will challenge them as learners.
