Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading in a comfortable environment helps children love reading. The days of sitting in rows of desks all day are over. I believe that children should feel free to sit and relax during reading time. I'm a first year teacher in need of beanbags and pillows for my classroom reading area.

I work in a diverse public school where supplies are limited.

My second grade class is full of children who enjoy reading. This is why I am asking for beanbags and comfortable pillows so that they can enjoy reading in a comfortable, at-home environment.

My Project

I have also requested a subscription for each of my students to TIME For Kids. This excellent magazine helps children read expository text. Reading expository text is essential to the mastery of second grade. I will use my reading area bean bags and comfy pillows on a daily basis as children rotate between reading and writing times. This will give them a fun, comfortable view on reading.

My students and I would greatly appreciate this donation.

I hope to have my students become lifelong readers and writers. If I show them that they can read in a comfortable environment, I feel as if they will learn to read on their own time as well.
