Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our classroom of first and second grade students, we love to learn in many different places around the room.

Our students love to have different spaces to work around the room besides just at their desks.

Students come to our carpet to introduce new topics, collaborate, and have class discussions. Also, we very often use our carpet area for small group lessons. Alternatively, students can choose different areas around the room as their workspace to do their work independently and have a quiet space to work. The lap desks we are requesting would be helpful when we’re working in our reading books, doing math lessons, and doing partner work on our projects. They will help us sit comfortably, keep our pencils from poking a hole in our papers as we work, and help us have a space to work better while working in different areas around the room.

We are requesting i-pad stands so we can find comfortable viewing angles, reduce strain on your neck and back, and keep our hands free for other tasks. These stands also help prevent accidental damage to our iPads and can be a more stable and secure base for our devices than a flat surface.

Finally, we are asking for name tag sleeves and name plates. Each year our first graders continue in the same classroom for their second-grade year in our 1/2 classroom and we refresh our desks with new name tag sleeves for our new nameplates. As many of our 1/2 students return to our classroom next year, these sleeves and name tags will keep our new name tags on our desks so we can continue to use them as a reference for the entire year.
