When I found out I was going to have a class of 36 students I was shocked and a little scared, but the maturity and warmth these kids bring to my classroom is amazing! I serve a multitude of learners who are both physically, financially, socially, and academically diverse. Finding a way to get every child to "feel" like they belong is a goal I have each semester. When a child feels like they have ownership in a classroom, they want to learn and grow and half my battle is won.
So, when a group of students came to me and shared that they wanted to add something a little "different" to our classroom to make it cozier, I was all in! These kids have creative ideas they need to let out, and their idea to make my classroom a little more creative was right up my alley.
If this project is fully funded, my students will be able to create learning centers throughout the room, and sometimes in the hall, that will allow them to discuss ideas and create projects that creatively show how and what they are learning, and they won't be sitting on the floor. The ability to shape the classroom to fit their needs through projects and reading circles will make their learning environment more appealing and allow them to claim ownership of their education. Personally, I know when I enter a place that allows movement and flow, where I can develop a grouping that is comfortable and welcoming, I do much better work. Your donation will help these students learn in a comfortable and creative environment.
In Their Own Words
We are wanting to get different seating to help some of our peers to focus better in class and work one on one with each other without having to sit on the floor. Throughout the day we have a total of 90 students who come in and out of Mrs. Goodson's classroom. Each of us is a bit different in our own way. Some of us have different strengths and weaknesses, but we all love working together. With these chairs, we can spread out and work with each other.
We are ready to spearhead this project to final funding through networking with friends and family through social media. We can make this happen with your help. When you donate, you are raising a kid's ability to get better grades and learn. It is proven through studies that when kids are moving, they are able to focus better and with these chairs, we can move and focus on the task and not our fidgeting.
These chairs will help solve many issues. First of all, it will help us have enough seating in our classroom, and it will also help our grades improve and help us be more comfortable. when we walk into an environment that we feel comfortable in, we will be more open and willing to learn from each other.
