Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a K-8 charter school in an urban area.
Our students are diverse, and they all strive to be "civic-minded leaders, accomplished writers, and resilient lifelong learners." Becoming lifelong learners requires the ability to comfortably learn inside of a classroom environment..
We all a prefered way to sit when learning. We also have a preference for lighting. My very young students are experimenting with flexible seating options as well as artificial light sources that best support their learning needs.
My Project
My young students are learning how to learn, share, and grow in a classroom setting. Flexible seating such as wobble chairs will help students learn to sit for learning activities such as reading and writing instruction. Floor seats will make small group work more comfortable and enjoyable for students.
We frequently work in our classroom with the lights off as students tend to stay calm and focused with natural lighting.
However, there are times when the sun is not shining and we need a source of light in our classroom that is an alternative to our overhead flourecent lights. LED string lights provide a dim source of lighting that will help my students maintain a relaxed and soothing environment for learning.
