Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic, kind, brilliant, and deserving. They love to read and write poetry, but most importantly they, love to perform plays in the classroom. Acting out their favorite characters is something they look forward to, and watching their faces light up as they read is very special.
I am teaching in a Title I school, where 98% of my students have low socioeconomic status.
My school has 100% free and reduced-price lunch. My students have a wide variety of interests and talents. They love talking about and participating in soccer, dance, robotics, cheer, choice, drama, and football. My classroom is full of students with a wide variety of talents and abilities. Unfortunately, the circumstances and challenges that they have living in Dallas often inhibit their brilliance, creativity, and talent. However, they walk into the school every day with a smile and a readiness to learn. I am determined to create a classroom where the students feel loved and to give them the educational opportunity that they deserve and need. Your help would be much appreciated.
My Project
I am hoping to make my classroom much more welcoming and engaging. My students often are sensitive to the fluorescent lights that they are in all day; therefore, I am hoping to give them a softer and more comfortable classroom with these light covers. My students would often benefit from flexible seating in the classroom, giving the students more choice in their education just by having the choice where they can sit. They will be able to use the vocabulary cards as an independent practice to expand their vocabulary while also using them to quiz their peers, thus making a more collaborative learning environment!
