I love my job! Every year, I have the brightest, sweetest and all around most amazing students. They are inquisitive and their excitement about learning makes me excited to be their teacher.

I am lucky enough to see this in action every day. My students come from a diverse neighborhood. They are children of the city and some have seen extreme poverty. Their life success hinges on their ability to be exemplary readers.
My Project
We use our classroom rug all day long. It is essential to whole group learning and for students who just need a break from a table and chair. While on the rug my students listen to stories and read their own stories, build block cities and learn about how shapes work together to make buildings, serve make believe meals and talk about family life, learn about the alphabet and how letters work together to make words. These are just a few examples of why a rug is absolutely necessary to my kindergarten classroom.
It is hard to believe, but absolutely true, that a rug can create a window to learning!
We need this rug to experience all the learning mentioned above and especially for a place that we can all do this learning TOGETHER!
