My Project

Donors recently generously funded a project to give hygienic supplies to our library, helping me to provide a Comfort Station for our students—but there are more supplies we could use.

Please help me grow our Comfort Station and provide me with supplies to help fulfill our students' hygiene needs.

Middle school is a difficult time to navigate socially, emotionally, and academically. Needing supplies like deodorant, bandages, toothbrushes, and lotion should not be something that our students have to worry about in addition to all of their other stressors. In our Title I school, students sometimes may not have access to these essential supplies at home, and providing them access to these supplies helps to create an equitable school environment. As the librarian I have the unique opportunity to open my doors to every student in this school and allow them to freely take whatever they need to get them through each day.

Since our library is always available for students, having a backup supply of hand sanitizer and lotion to keep on my desk for their use is essential for their comfort. I've also found bandages that come in a variety of skin tones, to help my students feel a stronger sense of belonging and inclusion. The drawers are to keep all of these supplies, and will join the shelves next to my desk area where our new Comfort Station is housed.
