My students are absolutely amazing. They come from a large, first-ring suburban school district. They thrive on the stability that school brings. Each student has an Individualized Education Plan and benefits from goal-oriented instruction and hands-on learning. Many of my students are enrolled in self-contained classes for all content areas and receive Resource Room or Study Skills support as well.
They are a diverse group of students who enjoy learning by doing.
They often work harder or longer to achieve the same results as their peers. They work diligently on their lessons, make progress towards goals, and crave new materials to use throughout the curriculum, especially in the areas of reading, language arts, and writing.
My Project
My students are working hard to develop an appreciation of reading, especially independently. They often struggle with text and are reading several grade levels below their currently assigned grades. They are working hard to close their skill gaps and improve their understanding. We have established an area for independent reading and work. We need to add more to it!

These materials will support students by offering a comfortable space- providing an incentive to read and develop their reading skills. The games will help us focus on expressing ourselves and establishing a trusting environment, while having a bit of fun! Snacks are student requested incentives, redeemed in our classroom's store, and the flashlights are another tool to help make reading exciting!
