My class is full of so many wonderfully unique students. I have students of all backgrounds and needs this year. I have students who are at all levels academically, students who require extra support for learning disabilities, extra support for behaviors, and students who need lots of extra love to make them feel safe at school.
My students have been greatly impacted by COVID-19 over the past few years.
I have several students who suffer from severe anxiety requiring them to received extra emotional support to feel comfortable at school. These students did not show anxiety before COVID-19 effected their daily lives. I hope to be able to provide a safe space for all of my students so that they are able to focus on learning all of our great content in sixth grade this year and thrive in Jr. High next year!
My Project
My project will benefit my students by providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for them to learn and grow in. The pandemic has caused a lot of emotional and physical strain on my students. The goal of these items in my classroom will be to support them with their social-emotional needs so that they can simply focus on learning the content in our class.
The flexible seating options will provide a safe space for my students to learn.
They will be able to feel more comfortable at school by providing different seating options just like they will find in their comfortable homes. This will also help students who are suffering with anxiety and other behavioral needs to be able to fidget and sit however they may need and focus on their learning.
I am also asking for some fidgeting items to help students struggling emotionally to be able to take advantage of the sensory items. This will help my students who may be struggling with stress, anxiety, or simply need a little brain break before they get back to focusing and showing their learning in class.
My class will greatly benefit from these items and the comfort that they will bring to our classroom. Please help my student create a safe space at school so that they can focus on learning all that they can this year to prepare them for the future!
