Instead of just watching me demonstrate, they now get to be the scientists, asking questions, testing ideas, and experiencing science firsthand. The prisms, clear cups, and other materials transformed our light lesson into a real investigation! When we studied light, students were thrilled to create rainbows, explore how light bends, and make their own discoveries through experimentation.\r\n\r\nNext week, we'll begin our sound unit, and my students can't wait to use the tuning forks, mallets, and speaker to see how vibrations make sound travel. These hands-on materials give them the chance to learn through doing, observing, predicting, and testing, which deepens their understanding far more than just watching a demonstration or video ever could. Thank you for bring science alive in our classroom!\r\n\r\nI'm so grateful to The DonorsChoose community for making this possible. The energy in our small groups is playful and full of laughter—we pause often to talk about tricky words, figure out idioms, and share silly moments from the stories. Books like Pig the Monster have turned our Halloween lessons into pure joy, with even my younger students who usually struggle with language eagerly participating, laughing, and asking to read it again. These stories have helped my students not only grow their vocabulary and sentence skills but also understand emotions, perspective-taking, and the rhythm of language in ways that worksheets never could.\r\n\r\nSome of these books have moved me deeply as well. Titles like Giraffes Can't Dance and Rosie's Glasses remind us how powerful it is to see the world differently, while A Sweet Smell of Roses and Bear Snores On capture emotions so honest that I've found myself tearing up right alongside my students. These books help us connect—to the story, to each other, and to the simple joy of learning through language.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has changed the tone of our sessions. You didn't just fund books—you gave my students connection, laughter, and a sense that their voices and stories matter. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping make our little speech room a place where words, ideas, and hearts grow every day.","fullyFundedDate":1755702733988,"projectUrl":"project/building-language-skills-one-story-at-a/9582459/","projectTitle":"Building Language Skills, One Story at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bateman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1077729_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533766538041","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/speechbob"},{"teacherId":1077729,"projectId":9195261,"letterContent":"When my students saw the new games and materials for the first time, their reactions were priceless—especially when I brought out the Pete the Cat Cupcake Game and the magnetic blocks. One of my students, who is mostly nonverbal, lit up during a play-based session using the magnetic tiles. Seeing him so engaged was a powerful reminder that language isn't just taught—it's experienced. These resources have already become central tools in both structured therapy and spontaneous, motivating moments.\r\n\r\nWe've used the sentence-building set in a variety of ways: as visual support for students using AAC devices, as a vocabulary-building tool, and even as a dry-erase customizer to add personalized targets. The kids love the visuals, and I love the flexibility! The Super Duper Social Inferences Fun Deck has also been a game-changer—it's perfect for quick grab-and-go moments between sessions, and it's helping me build in more targeted practice around perspective-taking and social cues. The games—Jenga, Honeybee Tree, magnetic blocks—have been especially helpful for motivation and engagement. When students are having fun, they make more progress, and these materials make that possible.\r\n\r\nWhile we've just started the school year, I can already tell these resources will have a lasting impact. My students are excited, engaged, and ready to learn. As we continue building on their skills and begin incorporating more literacy into our language and articulation goals, I'm confident that these tools will continue to support meaningful growth. Thank you for helping bring joy, structure, and connection into our therapy sessions—you've made a real difference.","fullyFundedDate":1746543655632,"projectUrl":"project/boosting-language-skills-through-fun-and/9195261/","projectTitle":"Boosting Language Skills Through Fun and Games!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bateman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1077729_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533766538041","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/speechbob"},{"teacherId":8300379,"projectId":9172231,"letterContent":"My third graders could not believe that generous donors would buy them books.
