Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is home to English Language students from all over the world, arriving to Minnesota from Afghanistan, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and more. While they are members of our high school, most newcomers experience their first winter, challenging weather that can get even seasoned "Minne-snow-tans" down.
Gloves, hats and scarves will keep their bodies warm, while protein snacks will give them energy to focus on academics.
In addition, making a hot cup of tea for a student when they are sleepy or feeling low can warm the stomach and the soul. My goal is to create supports for their first experience with snow, cold, and darkness, and, with these items, I think students can feel an embrace from a wider community.
