Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students need a welcoming and comfortable space where they can relax, read, and connect with one another. In our media center, there’s a small couch area that has quickly become a favorite gathering spot for students during their lunch periods, study halls, and independent reading time. Unfortunately, this area currently lacks the essential furniture to make it fully functional and inviting. With the addition of an ottoman and side tables, we can transform this space into a cozy, student-centered corner where students feel encouraged to read, talk, and unwind in a safe, positive environment.
Having a warm, comfortable space inside our school provides a sense of belonging and calm that so many of them crave.
The ottoman would offer extra seating and a place to rest their feet, while the side tables would give students a surface for their books, notebooks, snacks, and conversations. These simple additions would go a long way in making our media center feel like a second home — a place where every student feels welcomed and valued.
By supporting this project, donors would be directly contributing to the emotional well-being and academic engagement of our students. Comfortable, flexible seating not only creates a more inviting environment but also encourages students to spend time reading and socializing in healthy, positive ways. Your generosity would help us turn a popular hangout into an even better resource for our students — a small change that will make a big impact every single school day.
