Comfort and Flexibility

Help me give my students a rug, yoga ball chairs, and pillows to allow them freedom and comfort to move and collaborate around the classroom.

My Students

My fifth grade students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, with some of the students living in poverty. My classroom is filled with students who come to me with diverse needs, interests, and abilities. My students are eager to learn and do their best, and I, as their teacher, want to meet their enthusiasm with activities that inspire them to reach their goals and aspirations. I believe with this project will allow me to motivate them with new flexible seating options. Many of my students have faced more challenges in their short number of years than most of us will face in our entire lives. Despite the many challenges they face, they always come to school eager to learn. Each day when they enter our classroom a smile shines upon my face because my students truly are inspiring.

My students need access to flexible seating options.

These yoga ball chairs allow students the comfort to sit somewhere that will help them learn their very best. It will provide them with the option to have movement, but yet not disrupt the other learners in the classroom.

My Project

These materials are going to be very useful in our classroom. My students love to be able to move around while working and collaborate with their peers. So having a comfortable rug, yoga ball chairs, and pillows will allow students to have the flexibility and comfort to learn their best.

As we know it can be hard for students to sit still for long periods of time and flexible seating is just one way we can allow students movement in the classroom.

The yoga ball chairs will help them bounce out their wiggles and move around the room. The pillows will be a soft spot to sit and read and work on writing. The rug will provide a space to lay out and collaborate and play games.
