My Students

My students are a diverse group of 5 and 6 year-olds who come to school every day with a smile on their face. About half of my students speak English as a Second Language and are acquiring new skills quickly.

Our school has approximately 750 students and includes Life Skills and Autism classrooms.

Our room is on the same floor as these programs, and my students practice kindness and acceptance on a daily basis with these friends.

Kindergarten is such a special place. It's exciting for me to watch as my students grow and develop over the course of the year.

My Project

The easel we use now is broken & the whiteboard is stained. A new teaching easel will allow my students to participate hands-on in a variety of activities and subject matter.

One side of this easel is magnetic, which will allow my students to use magnetic letters, numbers, and math manipulatives where all can see.

The other side of the easel has handwriting lines, which is very important in kindergarten when learning how to form letters and write words.

Kids love to use our easel and act like the teacher. They use pointers to read words & sentences. They fill in missing words in our morning message every day. An easel is a must in any successful Kindergarten classroom.
