Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are working hard to bring art into our classroom, even to our math and social studies classes. Teaching the content is always important, but taking the time for creativity in all core subjects can be just as essential to engage all types of learners.
I want to give the kids a way to express their knowledge through art.
Creative projects allow the students to take a moment to breathe and recenter themselves so that they can continue to grow and learn.
We plan on designing rocks to decorate the entrance of our school. We will be writing affirmation messages along with some simple math to show others that math can be fun. The colored pencils and markers will be used in our science class for projects such as animal adaptations and life cycles, among others. The students are excited to receive the art supplies that will help them embellish their projects.
