Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would love to provide my class with crayons, markers and paint that come in many different skin tone colors. At the beginning of each year we do an all about me unit, this has several activities that students are able to share about themselves and their family. We make self portraits and I want to have appropriate color options for all of my students to use. I love that Crayola has made these Color of the World sets to help with inclusion and celebrating diversity. I am also requesting different skin tone bandaids. I want to be cognizant of making every student in my class feel seen. Having bandaids that may fit closer to their own skin tone may seem like a simple gesture but I think it has a bigger impact.

My biggest goal as an educator is to provide my students with a place where they are safe, feel loved and seen.

If I can provide them with more tools and supplies to help facilitate this classroom environment I will always do it.
