This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love coming to school and learning new skills in math and reading. Due to moderate to severe autism, my students NEED to use a combination of images, realia, and text as tools to help them read or to solve a math problem. My students use a combination of online educational assignments for technical learning and individual worksheets for writing practices. I would like to give them their OWN colorful workbooks for offline studies in math and English language arts!

My students would be able to build on their prior knowledge of reading fluency and number sense/operations.

Their word recognition skills would improve by matching the words with images, letters with sounds, and number sense with symbols.

I have previewed the Sylvan Learning workbooks. The images and strategies are large and colorful; these resources are well-structured with Common Core State Standards. I admire how each workbook emphasizes a student-centered, skill building, growth mind-set with qualitative and quantitative images.
