My students LOVE whiteboard learning time. I use whiteboards most of the day for practicing skills I’m teaching. I’m currently participating in a book study called “Building Thinking Classrooms.” Students work in groups to tackle skill based tasks. They learn from each other and the work on their neighboring teams boards.
Dry erase markers and boards allow students to think by making mistakes and correcting to get to the right answer.
Sometimes I don’t allow them to erase their work so I can learn how they are thinking. This allows me to show them different strategies they can use to get to the correct answer.
