Students explored the museums, took a tour, and sat in on a senate meeting at the capitol building. We also saw a show at the State Library. \r\n\r\nMy students loved having their camera and it made them more engaged in what they saw throughout our field trip. The students enjoy hiding the charms and challenging their friends to find them. This activity is particularly beneficial for my social-emotional learners and those with selective mutism, as it helps them develop appropriate play skills with their peers.\r\nAdditionally, I have explored several books from the On Strike collection, and my students are eager to read them on their own. The vibrant illustrations captivate their attention, and they love seeing the school supply characters come to life. Our kids have been working so hard to prepare for the state test and many of them have asked if the learning is going to stop after it is over. I am able to respond with an excited \"NO!\" As you can imagine, with kids ready to be done after testing, it can be difficult to provide meaningful learning experiences that will keep them engaged. I am sure that the Hands-on Equations kits will be EXACTLY what we need.\r\nMany students are feeling nervous about their transition to the middle school. It makes my teacher heart happy to help them build a foundation for algebra that will allow them a smooth transition into 6th grade math. Equations with letters usually gives them a heart attack, but these materials will expose them to algebra without that jarring experience.\r\nOur class is so grateful for your donation and I promise that we will put the materials to good use. They are enjoying the new titles I've added to our classroom library. Our school sets goals for students to read books and take Accelerated reading quizzes. Teachers use this to monitor their reading comprehension. My kids don't have access to many below level books at our 3rd-5th grade school so they are excited to be able to have some books to read and take test. I've used the decodable readers for a few students who need intensive reading instruction. These students are still learning letter sounds and blending to make words. I want them to leave 3rd grade with confidence in their reading abilities. \r\nNo, they will never be on grade level, but will at least have the strategies to figure words they don't know out and read basics needed for their future.
