Colorful Learning in First Grade

My Students

My school is located in the heart of the delta right on the Mississippi River. The location of my school plays greatly in the diversity of my students in terms of ethnicity, learning preferences, and socio-economic needs. Each student at my school receives free breakfast and lunch services. Mornings start with my students coming to school energized and ready for a full day of learning.

No matter what obstacles we may face, my students are absolutely precious.

They deserve to have the very best. They are eager to get to school each morning, have a smile on their face, and are ready to learn. I want to be able to give them the tools they need to feel like they are capable and contributing members of our classroom.

My Project

My students need a color printer for our classroom. So much of our first grade learning is spent in centers. When the centers are colorful and bright, learning is so much more exciting and engaging. We spend a large part of our day in learning centers. During this time I lead small groups for interventions, reading groups, and enrichment. Having a color printer would allow me to make centers that are engaging and keep my students more engaged and focused on learning.

A color printer will allow my students' research to come to life.

They will be able to print out colorful pictures of their nonfiction writing topics and add detail to their writing with the use of this technology. I can't wait to see my students' growth this year and hope they are able to use this new technology in our classroom.
