My Students
I am looking forward to meeting my new group of kindergarten learners! My students come diverse ethnic backgrounds with many receiving free lunch. My kindergartners LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to look at books and hear stories read to them many times.
My Project
These books will be a great start in changing my classroom library into a library that reflects my diverse group of students. My young learners are so excited to choose their own books from our classroom library. They love to find a book that looks inviting and colorful and where they are able to see a reflection of themselves. Once they have found the perfect book for the moment they find a special spot on the carpet with a friend and pour over each beautiful page. I love to listen to the conversations these books spark, along with the continues giggles they can bring to our classroom.
I will also be using these books to bring my kindergartners together as we learn about ourselves and each other as we begin our year with digital learning.
I can't wait to give them the gift of reading wonderful books that represent the students in our classroom!
