Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a 100% free and reduced-price lunch, Pre-K-3 through 5th grade school, at the heart of Washington, DC.
This school year, I support pre-K, kindergarten and first grade special education students, a group of focused and motivated students, who despite disadvantages, work hard to catch up in literacy and mathematics, rising above the challenges of disabilities, language delays and more.
We push through challenges in academics (and life) as a team, struggling often, celebrating always, and above all, never giving up. My students are so thankful and appreciative of having access to supplies in the classroom which further support their success this school year.
My Project
We are scheduled to bring a small percentage of students back to school in-person in the coming weeks, and while school won't look or feel the same due to COVID, we want to make it as normal as possible with exciting bulletin boards. This project is requesting bulletin board borders, cut-out letters, colorful file folders and wall holders, and displays that support literacy, math and fun! Additionally, I am requesting a restock of printer ink in order to print essential documents, worksheets, displays and more for the school year. A jumbo timer and white board easel will support both in-person learning and virtual as we work to meet the needs of all students in these unknown times.
