Colored Printer for Bucket List Research Project

My Students

I teach students who are from a rural and very impoverished area. While they are enthusiastic about learning there are many roadblocks we face within my classroom. One-to-one technology is a newer concept in our district. Many of my students are unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the digital world.

I am teaching them to bridge the gap between what they are used to using and the future of technology in education.

They want to learn on a level equivalent to those in more affluent school communities.

My Project

I teach project-based curriculum instead of just focusing on tests. We do many projects throughout the year that require colored pictures to be printed, but we don't have access to a colored printer on a regular basis, and would like one in our classroom.

One of my favorite things to teach in my English III class is the Bucket List Research Project.

Through the process of research, my students will come up with 5 items they want to put on their bucket list and research them. They can choose ANYTHING and some of the most popular choices are traveling to a far away place, opening a restaurant, etc. Once the research is complete, the students have options of different to complete the project. Drawing a map, creating a pamphlet, designing a restaurant menu, etc. Colored copies are essential to the completion of this project and without daily access to a colored copier, it becomes hard for some to complete their assignments.

A colored copier that my students have access to on a regular basis is an essential part of the success of my classroom.
