Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Without paint, how are my students supposed to be able to color their world!

My students are inner city, economically disadvantaged, but very bright, smart and very hard working.

They love to paint better than anything else we do. My students are 85% Hispanic and 15% black. The community they come from is very guarded and they don't have any opportunities to see the city or participate in outside activities due to the fact that they work to help support their families or they take care of brothers and sisters so others in the family can work.

My Project

One of the things that intrigues my students is understanding that we are all different shades of the same color. When learning to mix skin tones you can see the light come on. They reach a deeper understanding of color and how it is changed and affected by other colors

As of now my students will have very limited opportunities to work in color and to really understand color due to the lack of funding this year.

Painting helps to relax and focus even the most hyperactive children and they develop a since of confidence in their own skill and understanding when we get through this project.
