Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of different backgrounds with over 70% of them receiving free or reduced lunch. Students in my ESL classes speak Spanish and Portuguese for the most part.

The majority of these students are new to the country.

Their schooling (if any) in their native country was much different than what they are experiencing here. They are excited to learn in this new environment, but they need as much support as possible, as some have very little language. I aim to provide an inviting, attractive, and comfortable classroom for them to come to daily.

My Project

Having a color printer will enhance my teaching and the students' learning. Not only will I be able to print visuals to use with my English language learners to better assist them with new vocabulary, but they will also be able to have their work printed out in color, which is always so more appealing to look at. I can also print vivid graphic organizers to display in our room, that are created by myself and the children, as opposed to displaying store-bought charts, which are less meaningful to them than something they helped create. Having a good quality color printer would really brighten up our classroom.
