Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second graders are naturally curious and love hands-on learning experiences. They learn best when they can see, explore, compare, and create. This year, we adopted a new curriculum that emphasizes project-based learning and encourages students to learn by doing. As exciting as this approach is, it also requires high-quality, colorful instructional materials that help students make sense of what they are learning.

For example, one of our math lessons asked students to compare information about a chocolate cake and a strawberry cake.

Because our classroom copies were printed in black and white, many students could not distinguish between the two cakes or correctly interpret the problem. Instead of focusing on the math, they became confused by the visuals. A simple color copy would have eliminated that barrier and allowed students to spend their time solving the problem rather than figuring out the pictures.

A color printer will allow me to create engaging math games, literacy activities, task cards, anchor charts, and project materials that match the way the curriculum was designed to be taught. Students will be able to clearly identify color-coded information, follow visual directions, organize their thinking, and complete projects with greater confidence. I will also be able to laminate these materials so they can be reused year after year, maximizing their impact while reducing waste.

By donating to our project, you will help transform everyday lessons into meaningful learning experiences. Your generosity will give my students access to the colorful, interactive materials they need to fully participate in project-based learning, strengthen their critical thinking skills, and develop a deeper understanding of math, reading, and other core subjects. Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn the way the curriculum intended—through engaging, hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and success.
