Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My middle school students are striving to reach their maximum artistic potential and are in need of technology advancements in order to do so! Art education overtime has changed substantially and has become costly in materials needed to engage a students interest. Art is often looked as less important or undervalued in today's education system, due to the emphasis on standardized testing. However, art unlocks higher level human cognition and can enhance the confidence needed in our thinking ability and decision making. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to shift their outlook on art to a more valued and appreciated skill/subject area that will help them in future studies. By having a colored printer in our classroom, it will help elevate the projects/materials I am able to provide my students with and incorporate STEAM integrated lessons into instruction.

By supporting our art classroom, you are providing the means these students need in order to release their creative potential, access to inventive consciousness and higher thinking processes that have been largely untapped by our verbal, technological culture and education system.

The students at our school come from an array of socioeconomic backgrounds and some have never had access to this tool. A colored printer in the art room would aid in the creative processes for these students to create skilled pieces of art. This would help enrich the curriculum I teach and result in higher level art education provided to the students. Art is a key component in high human level cognition, being able to provide the materials needed to achieve this would an amazing opportunity to take part of!
